Lane Knight - Certified Health and Wellness Coach in Tampa Bay Area

Meet The FounderLane Knight

Hi there, I’m Lane, the founder of Vitality Lane. I am an empathetic health and wellness coach dedicated to helping other’s achieve their goals!

I have an extensive background in clinical patient care. I thoroughly enjoyed this, but I often felt like I was grazing the surface with limited interactions and often was left wondering how people were doing after in office visits. When I learned that health and wellness coaching would allow me to have more time to dive deep and follow along with a client, my interest was sparked. Shortly after this, I started my health coaching course through Emory University. I studied and worked hands on for 6 months, and received my certification with flying colors. I truly love that health and wellness coaching is a bit more holistic, where we can take a more integrative approach, and ultimately have more time together. Now I get to explore people’s health and wellness journeys on a more personal level! I created Vitality Lane because I want people to know they don’t have to feel unheard, stuck, or alone; and they can do more for their health and wellness journey, in addition to their routine medical appointments.*

If I had to pick three words to describe myself I would choose: compassionate, empathetic, and solution oriented. My goal is to make a client feel safe, heard, and supported as we navigate the client’s health/wellness journey together.  Please don’t hesitate to reach out to me if you think you may be a good fit for coaching. You can send me an email or book me directly on my “Book Now” tab. I look forward to getting to know you and navigating your unique health and wellness vision together.

Education

I am a certified health and wellness coach. I received certification through Emory University, in their NBHWC (National Board for Health and Wellness Coaching https://nbhwc.org/ ) approved program. I concentrated in pre-medical studies in undergrad, and I received a dual Bachelor’s degree in Spanish and Biology. I worked in clinical care throughout undergrad, and for many years after graduating, until discovering my niche in health and wellness coaching.

Thanks to my background, I have worked with a lot of diverse people groups and experienced a lot of scenarios. I recognize that everyone is unique and so is their journey. I acknowledge the power behind integrative medicine, and the positive impact of health and wellness coaching. And I firmly believe more can be done, in addition to routine clinical care*, and that reaching a deeper level of self awareness puts the patient back in the driver’s seat of their life, and back in control of their health and wellness journey.

I bring empathy, compassion, attentive listening, and dedication to my sessions. I look forward to diving into your wellness vision with you and supporting you through taking back your power and working towards vitality!

*Health coaches work cohesively with client’s existing clinicians to help client’s achieve their goals. Coaches strongly encourage clients to regularly check in with their existing medical team. We are not meant to be a replacement, rather an additional resource and  health advocate.

In My Free Time

When I am not health coaching clients or spending quality time with family, you will probably find me volunteering or working out. Or perhaps conjoining the two! I am a volunteer with a local Parkinson’s support group, where we kick box together. Parkinson’s hits home for me, due to being a caregiver for 5+ years to a family member diagnosed with this. The support group I get to volunteer with is incredible. Everyone is so kind and supportive, and the exercises (and their modifications) allow the participants to activate both side’s of their brain and fight back against the disease. I wish a group like this existed years ago for my loved one, so I am thankful to have found it and get to help out with the group members now. If you or a loved one is affected by Parkinson’s, please check out Rock Steady Boxing Parkinson’s patients support groups.

Anyway, back to a bit more about me: I am an avid kickboxer, so I routinely hit the bag and enjoy lifting weights at the gym throughout the week. My mindfulness practice (You will hear about mindfulness practices in our sessions.) of choice is yoga, so I look forward to that at the end of every busy week. Fitness is so important to me, and even when I’m down I can count on it to lift me back up.

My weekends are reserved for family time; I cherish these moments with them, as I know life is short. We enjoy getting out on the water together, hiking, travelling, family game nights, and intermittently being couch potatoes for a movie night. Haha. With my background in biology and my spouse’s background in pro fishing (catch and release), we are all avid ocean advocates. We hope for a cleaner ocean and healthier sea life, so we routinely volunteer as a family at ocean clean-up events or visit our local rehab and release facility, CMA and support their fund raising events on the weekends. As a family we believe that a better tomorrow starts with us, and the habits that we demonstrate to the youth matter, for the future generations to come.

Educationally speaking, I am gearing up to start Physician assistant school (in 2025) to continue my medical education. I look forward to returning to clinical care and bringing my health coaching experience with me. I was blessed to have 90% medical practitioners in my class cohort; during class they reported already seeing the positive impact with their patients, from the coaching style we were trained on. And they are still seeing it to this day, which is incredible. I am eager to resume clinical patient care as a practitioner, but I am thankful that I get to health coach clients and make a difference in the present! I look forward to carrying this skill with me, and hopefully continue health coaching part time during grad school, and definitely after graduate school while working as a PA.

Hopefully you enjoyed getting to read a bit more about me! It’s important for clients to remember that health coach’s lives are busy too, and we are very human. We can empathize with many situations, and we have been health coached ourselves too (during our training), so we know what the relationship can feel like and the good that can come from it. It can be nerve wracking to try something new, but it truly opens up a new realm of possibilities and a new sense of hope in one’s life, if a client is forthcoming and fully present in the coaching.
